    This may be the cheapest rod you can ever find. Plus, Shimano 2-Pc. FX Spinning Rod is distributed in sportsauthority stores, about 9.99 each. So you can try them in person if you have sportsauthority nearby. Many fisherman doubt them just because of the too low price tag, which are cheaper than many children rods. In fact, they are really decent rods. Shimano's catolog even mentions that this series is good for light salt water fishing, which it does. I mainly fish in Long Island. and no rust is found in guides after one year use.

    I highly recommend them. Their too low prices should not be the reason keeping you from them. But, again, it's a very light rod and the weight definately doesn't cause problems. I could see this as a good rod to start someone young with.
