Leading producers of spinning rod baits offer angles a wide choice of wobblers (besides many models are produced in 3-5 different sizes). Which one to chose?

Most angles buy wobblers without any system, not taking into consideration future fishing conditions. Assertions that this wobbler is for pike and that is for perch are mere if you don't specify water depth, stream strength, fish size.

Different brands like Rapala (Finland), Ugly Duckling (Yugoslavia), Duel (Japan), Yo-Zuri (Japan), Daiwa (Japan), Rebel (USA), Cotton Cordell (USA) - often mark Shad (sometimes they are also called "Plug" or "Crank") or Minnow on the package.
These baits look like tadpole - the head part with a blade is much wider and sometimes even thicker then the tail part. Such wobblers make fidgety movements in the narrow passage.
Best ones are affective in the stream.

Shad

Shad wobblers can be swimming (better for still water) and sinking (better for steams). If fishing in the near-bottom waters better use Shad models with bigger blade. Larger water contact area and wide attack angle make the bait reach needed depth fast. Models with center of gravity shifted to the blade have almost vertical trajectory. The other side of the medal is lashing around fishing line.
Shad models are ideal for deep flat sections. But big bladed Shad models are useless deeper than 20 feet.
Besides the submersion speed another important characteristics is surfacing speed. If you fish in a section with a slimy bottom use bulb-shaped wobblers. If you fish in the sections with small rocks or sand bottom use Shad with wide and flat body.

Minnow

Distinctive feature of Minnow wobblers is a bar-shaped body. Minnow wobblers are produced in three variants: swimming, sinking and suspending.
When choosing a swimming wobbler pay attention to the blade shape. If the blade is small and narrow, the bait trembles. If the blade is wider than the body, the wobbler will have wider movement. Swimming wobblers are used to fish above the algae, approximately at 6 feet.
Suspending wobblers do not surface nor sink. The bait looks alive: it has eyes, holographic scales print and other decorations. The wobbler movement scheme is often shown on the package.
Sinking Minnow models are often used in the stream. These models are simple in use and could be compared to slowly sinking spoon-baits. Sinking wobbles are perfect for the beginners.
